Goodbye call to Nonna

When you’ve been planning something for almost a year it’s crazy when it’s actually time to do it.

Big day tomorrow – I start my solo cross Canada motorcycle ride from Victoria, BC to St. John’s NL.  I’ll be staying with strangers along the way, fellow bikers I’ve connected with through Instagram. It’s going to be a celebration of our beautiful country, the awesome Canadian motorcycle community and the magic that happens when you take a risk and ask a stranger to go for a ride (and also to sleep on their couch).

So much has gone into the planning of this ride…there’s just one last thing to do…call Nonna to say goodbye. And also pack. Ughhh…still have to do that.

Does this make me a crazy dog lady?

Operation: Carry My Blind Dog Up a Mountain was a success! Equal parts embarrassing and fun.

Let me explain.

Cooper is my 9-year-old rescue dog who’s blind and is also losing his hearing pretty quickly, too. He walks into things, trips down slopes and takes a realllllly long time to find his footing. Recently on one hike, we had to actually carry him for the majority of it.

He was happy to be carried…but let’s be honest, we’re not doing that again! Cooper is a 25 lbs cocker spaniel.

At that point, I figured I had two options. Either he stays at home while I go hiking or I stop hiking. I didn’t like either of those choices…soooo that’s when I started looking for a dog carrier backpack thing. Technical term.

We tried it out on a three hour hike around Mount work this weekend and I’m happy to report, Cooper and my back/shoulders all made it!

National French Fry Day

Rejoice! Today is National French Fry Day. I’ve been waiting for this day all year. All my life, if we’re being totally honest.

What’s the best fry and where do you get it?

Have you ever tried Irish Nachos?? All the delicious ingredients of regular nachos, but instead of tortilla chips, they’re WAFFLE FRIES. I haven’t been able to eat regular nachos since*.

*That’s not true.

What’s a Bumble?

A co-worker of mine just walked me through her Bumble account. Wow, that made me feel old and stupid.

When’s the last time you felt that way and what did it for you?

I asked that question on KOOL’s Facebook and all the comments were to the effect of ‘Now! What’s a Bumble?’ Ha!

Honorable mention to Candice who said ‘when people use hip lingo.’ Hip lingo! Keep it lit, fam!

I work in a meat locker

This is pretty much how I dress when I’m preparing for a day at the office during the summer. Anyone else’s work suuuuper cold?

What’s with that? Do you believe in the theory that a cold workplace makes for productive employees? What an urban legend.

I spend way more time layering up and going to the staff kitchen to boil water than I do actually working. Just kidding*

KOOL FM. Literally.

*but not really.
