Meet Matt MacLeod

What words do you say the most?

This is Matt and his most used words are ‘hyped’, ‘amped’, ‘super stoked’ and ‘ahhhhh yeeeee!’ That should give you an idea about what kind of guy Matt is. He was one of the first people I told about my cross Canada motorcycle ride…he was also one of the first people who offered to help. Together we wrote a first draft of my proposal to get businesses on board. Seven months later we met up for some photos. I was riding my bike and Matt was leaning out the car window (as Brian drove), taking pictures featuring brands like Blundstone, Biltwell and Om Boys.

Matt’s a super talented photographer and I’m so thankful for his support and enthusiasm. I’m also hyped/amped/super stoked to see what he comes up with next. Ahhhhh yeeeee!

On-Air with Pamela McCall

Pamela McCall is one of those people you just want to have a coffee with. Or glass of wine. Or both. Actually wine.

She hosts BC Today on CFAX 1070 and because we’re on air at the same time (different stations) our paths rarely pass. But when they do, even briefly, I love it.

Pamela has such a warm energy and is one of those people you just feel comfortable around.  She’s also lived such an adventurous life and I love trading stories with her. It was a pleasure to actually be able to sit down and talk with her for a good 20 minutes on her show today. Maybe I should ride across Canada more often if it means more conversations with this lovely lady.

Meet Ben

This is Ben Parker. He’s been riding bikes since he was 10. “My dirt bike was my life. If my bike was broken I just locked myself in my room and read bike magazines.”

Eventually that passion led him to become a motorcycle mechanic. He owns Coleman Speed and Cycle in Courtenay and loves building custom motorcycles; “making them look good and go fast”.

When Ben heard I was riding across Canada, he offered to handle all my pre-ride bike maintenance. It’s his dream to do that ride one day so he wanted to play a part in the adventure for me. Amazing!

Ben also connected me with his buddy in New Brunswick, who I’ll be staying and riding with when I roll through Moncton.

Ben actually built his friend’s bike. So when I meet up with him, I’ll be on my bike that was serviced by Coleman Speed and Cycle, and his friend will be riding his chopper, custom-built by Coleman.

So it’s kind of like Ben will be with us in spirit. “That’s my favorite part of the shop right there. I built that bike and you guys are meeting up. That’s cool, wow. That’s cool.”

On-Air with Terry Moore

It’s always so weird being on the receiving end of the interviewer’s questions…vs being the actual interviewer.

Thanks to Terry Moore from CFAX 1070 for having me on his show this afternoon.

We talked loud motorcycles, not letting fear get in the way of your dreams, the hospitality of strangers and my backup plan in case of any mechanical issues or bad weather.

Spoiler alert: I have no backup plan.
